The upcoming installment of the World Governments Summit (WGS), scheduled to take place in Dubai from February 12th to 14th, is poised to be a significant event, featuring a comprehensive agenda centered around the theme “Shaping Future Governments.”
The WGS is dedicated to shaping a more promising future for humanity and will spotlight six main themes across 15 global forums, exploring major global future trends and transformations through over 110 key dialogues and interactive sessions. With participation from over 200 global figures, including presidents, prime ministers, experts, thinkers, and influential individuals shaping the future, the event promises to be a gathering of prominent minds.
The 11th edition of the WGS will host more than 23 ministerial meetings and roundtables, bringing together over 300 ministers. Moreover, it will attract the attendance of over 85 international, regional, and intergovernmental organizations, along with 120 government delegations.
Distinguished attendees encompass business leaders such as Sam Altman, Chief Executive Officer of OpenAI; Guillaume Faury, Chief Executive Officer of Airbus; Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA; Eric Schmidt, Co-founder of Schmidt Futures and former CEO and chairman of Google; Dr. Dario Gil, Senior Vice President and Director of Research of IBM; and Dr. Yann LeCun, Vice President and Chief AI Scientist at META, among others.
In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Mohamed Yousef AlSharhan, Managing Director of the World Government Summit Organisation, emphasized the significance of the new edition, underscoring the importance of convening global leaders from the private sector to exchange solutions across various sectors, including artificial intelligence, economic and financial management, energy, climate change, education, and health.
The summit will host 15 global forums, organized in collaboration with international organizations, global technological institutions, and leading companies. These forums aim to innovate new solutions for the challenges facing human societies and will cover vital sectors such as Global Health, Government Services, Arab Government Administration, Knowledge Exchange, Future of Transportation, Public Finance for Arab Countries, Future of Education, Space Future, and Advanced Industry and Technology.
The WGS 2024 will continue its diverse dialogues through forums like the Artificial Intelligence Forum, the Future of Work Forum, the Emerging Economies Forum, the Governance of Geotechnology Forum, the Sustainable Development Goals Forum, as well as the Arab Meeting for Young Leaders and the ‘Time 100’ event.
The summit will facilitate purposeful global discussions focused on envisioning the shaping of future governments. It will bring together world leaders, global government officials, international organizations, thought leaders, and private sector leaders to enhance international cooperation, identify innovative solutions for future challenges, anticipate key opportunities, and inspire the next generation of governments.
Additionally, the summit will host high-level ministerial meetings, addressing topics such as sustainable development, the next generation of future governments, Arab finance, labor ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the future of hydrogen energy.
